In relation to the residential construction industry an electrician is a tradesperson specializing in electrical wiring of buildings. Electricians may be employed in the installation of new electrical components or the maintenance and repair of existing electrical infrastructure.
Effective February 29, 2016 all electricians that want to obtain a Field Safety Representative Certification (FSR) need to write exams which are based on the 2015 BC Electrical Code, regardless of application date. Qualified electricians who do not have to have an FSR certificate to work in the electrical field, but it does have its advantages. An FSR certification allows you to be the named FSR on a contractor licence and on permits.
This course will educate our members on the basics of electrical wiring, safety, how to wire correctly and how to hire an electrician for your new build or renovation.
